Theme: Climate or Development?
Yesterday, being the fourth day of the event comprised two movies and a discussion.It commenced with an introductory speech from Mr. Olivier DELEFOSSE, the Country Director of the AFD [Agence Français de Devéloppement- French Development Agency].The first movie was Titled "India, Climate Or Development in English by Pascal Fellous ,produced by François mogrant,18 mins. This movie featured India which is currently the 3rd Largest emitter of greenhouse gases. With 800million people still living with less than $2 a day and 400 million people without access to electricity, the Movie highlighted how the AFD's projects have aided the reduction of that figure.The introduction of Biodigester which is a simple machine that collects the methane gas from cow dung so as to be utilised as a fuel to over a million homes has supplied an alternative and safer fuel source .

The second movie was titled Kenya, accompanying Nyokabi,AFD,16 mins was in English too. The movie provided a vivid example of the sad effects climatic change could have on a country. Climatic change currently threatens daily life: water resources, food and more....

Kenya is obviously a victim of climatic change that isn't content with just sitting and bemoaning its fate. It is currently taking certain measures with the Aid of the AFD to reduce the effects and to improve and increase the supply of daily necessities.
Afterwards, the discussion which was more of an interactive session was moderated by Mr. Adesoji Ademola. It was really informative as many perspectivess of the issue were raised and addressed . The members of the audience thereafter answered the nagging question of the theme by each proposing a middle ground which all translated to developing with the climate in mind. A vivid example is that of Kenya which uses gases obtained from drilling the earth as an alternate source of electricity generation.
